Ernie Fraser, BA, MA (Sociology)

Ernie Fraser's Initiatives with Peacemakers Trust Reconciliation in Northern Ireland: Initiative at Corrymeela, Ireland (January to March 2013 and September to December 2015)

Over his career, Ernie Fraser has worked in communications, social research and human resources as a public servant and consultant. In 1999, he established a consultancy specializing in strategic communications, organizational change, crisis communications, issue management and facilitation.

He held senior communications and research positions during more than 16 years with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and for a number of years was a senior communications manager in provincial government organizations in British Columbia. As a consultant, his clients have included a wide array of public sector and non-governmental organizations in British Columbia and other parts of Canada.

During his years with the CBC, Ernie represented the corporation on a number of broadcast industry initiatives and led many audience research projects focused on radio and television programming. He led communications and research projects for the CBC in every province, the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Ernie was responsible for the first systematic audience research in Canada's northern territories.

Since 2008, Ernie has been a volunteer team leader with Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village program and led 15 teams to several countries around the world.

Ernie served as a volunteer for three months in 2011 and 2013 at the Corrymeela Community in Northern Ireland. The mission of Corrymeela is: "embracing difference, healing division and enabling reconciliation," with a focus on long-standing divisions and conflicts in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Over the years, Ernie has served in volunteer leadership positions with many organizations in Ottawa, Toronto and Victoria. He was an associate faculty member in the MBA program at Royal Roads University for several years. He continues to provide strategic counsel to selected non-profit and non-governmental organizations.

Ernie is a skilled communicator, facilitator and team leader.

He has a BA (sociology) from the University of New Brunswick and a Master’s Degree (sociology) from the University of Waterloo.
